$199 million to create new models for training youth with disabilities.
The Department of Education announced $199 million to fund 20 projects aimed at workshopping models for training disabled youth to become economically self-sufficient. The investment will be distributed through the Disability Innovation Fund, which partners with states and local education agencies to address the higher rates of unemployment among disabled people.
“This investment will not only require state and local agencies to improve outcomes for individuals with disabilities by finding innovative ways of working together, but it will also look to unlock post-school and career success for those individuals,” said Special Education and Rehabilitative Services Assistant Secretary Glenna Wright-Gallo. “The Department is committed to providing children and youth with disabilities the supports they need to access self-advocacy training, career pathways, and independent living.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Assistant Secretary Wright-Gallo as she heads the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services.
- That Secretary Cardona would seek God’s direction as he oversees the Education Department.
- For the educators and teachers who work with special needs children and adolescents.
